Salford has 191 new coronavirus cases, up from the previous day's 188, bringing the cumulative total to 16,970. The seven day average of cases has increased to 1,063, up from 1,044, while the seven day rate per 100,000 population now stands at 410.7, up from 403.3. It has more than doubled since Boxing Day, when the seven day rate was 187.8.
Elsewhere in Greater Manchester, the seven day average of cases in Bury is 827 (up from 816), with a seven day rate per 100,000 population of 433 (up from 427.2); Bolton 1,016 (up from 988), with a rate of 353.3 (up from 343.6); Manchester 2,432 (up from 2,340), with a rate of 439.9 (up from 423.3); and Oldham 914 (up from 880), with a rate of 385.5 (up from 371.1).
Rochdale has a seven day average of cases of 903 (up from 891), with a seven day rate of 406 (up from 400.6); Stockport 1,261 (up from 1,245), with a rate of 429.8 (up from 424.3); Tameside 830 (up from 823), with a rate of 366.5 (up from 363.4); Trafford 1,082 (down from 1,115), with a rate of 455.9 (down from 469.8); and Wigan 1,522 (down from 1,578), with a rate of 463.1 (down from 480.1).
There have been four new virus-related deaths at Salford Royal Hospital.
Meanwhile, the 0161 Community Media Team is re-launching its #messageforfrontline, asking people to video messages for front line workers which will be part of a 24 hour livestream to show support.
"Over the last year, from NHS staff, to teachers, to refuse workers and delivery drivers, they've kept us all ticking over, we need to let them know how important they are, and how thankful every last one of us is, they are the real heroes of our city, they truly are the pride of our nation" says Jacob Briars, from the 0161 Community Media Team.
