Tomorrow, Saturday 27th July the Mosley Common Scarecrow Festival happens from 10am. This year, the village is incorporating Boothstown and Ellenbrook, and visitors can follow a trail and judge the best ones. As well as the scarecrows there are also hidden rocks painted and hidden by the children.
Start at the Beehive Community Centre, Lindale Road, Mosley Common M28 1BG, where you can buy a trail map and judging sheet for just £1.
"You can also enjoy a walk along the Mosley Common in Bloom Colliery Cops Nature Trail with lots of things to see and photograph" state the organisers "Then it's across the East Lancashire Road into Boothstown to find lots more scarecrows and take on some refreshments at the many cafè's bars, pubs, and clubs.
"Whilst you are in Boothstown you might enjoy a look around Boothstown Marina on the historic Bridgewater Canal where there are many more great pictures just waiting for you to take" they add "A leisurely stroll along the canal will bring you to Astley and the Lancashire Mining Museum where once again there is lots to see, and photograph."
Pictures of the hidden rocks can be posted on the Common Rocks Facebook page https://www.facebook.com/groups/274248283146663/
