This Friday, 19th May, the Working Class Movement Library marks Museums at Night with a live gig by Alun Parry, the radical singer-songwriter who's been called 'an incurable champion of ordinary people'.
Alun describes his music as 'indie folk meets Americana on the way to a picket line', and he'll be playing his new album Freedom Rider, on the night. This is Parry's seventh album and tracks include We Are Not Afraid, written in response to the story of Sophie Lancaster, who was basically murdered for being a Goth.
The title track, Seventh Rider, is about Sala Udin, who helped transport people around during the civil rights campaign bus boycotts and was beaten by the police for his pains. Expect a 'rousing and defiant collection of songs exploring social history and celebrating the human spirit' states the Library.
