Ms. Ferrer seems to think that 'Wrote' is an individual, whereas we all know it is simply the name applied to anyone who doesn't have a name to put on here. She also gives the impression that she believes that anyone disagreeing with her anonymously works at the Town Hall. he's probably wrong about that too.

Mary, you change your political affiliations more times than most people change their underwear! In the past, when I challenged you about concrete issues such as housing or austerity, you failed totally to suggest a concrete solution. You are either stupid or dishonest - you slag off the council but you don't present any alternative policies!

Farewell Star, you have become a mouthpiece for just about a dozen gobby salfordians, who, like you have serious gripes about Labour and the council, and are quite irrelevant nowadays. There's too much ranting on here so I will stick with the genuine press instead of this BLOG!

Rayofsunshine. Another one who can write comments about people, but hasn't the balls to put there name to it. Opportunist, I worked bloody hard over the years for my community and my city. I have been involved for over 30 years, not just the time I was a councillor. If you and your other mate "WROTE" are that bothered about our city, get off your backsides and do something about it. There again, not having the bottle to put your name to your rants, tells me,1)You are cowards and 2)think you both are already working up at the civic. Well working is a bit stronger work to use. Playing at being a LABOUR councillors. Yours truly Mary Ferrer Community activist

Mary a Political opportunist, no someone who as a record of achievement in the ward she represented, someone who lost her seat because of a National party alliance with the Tories and someone who understands that to make change or help people you have to be in the council chamber to make a difference. Politics is a dirty shitty game and you have to use the cards you are dealt, but you what the hell have you ever done? more than likely F-ck all

Regardless of what political rosette she wears, Mary Ferrer remains an opportunist of the first degree!

Can I thank Mary Ferrer for her comments. I am pleased to inform her that as Liberal Democrat candidate for Claremont I will be offering voters a chance to stand against Salford Council's Labour cabal. Maybe Mary would like to rejoin us. She would be very welcome. Among my proposals is a refurbishment of the Youth Club building. To that end I have already written to Salford Youth Services asking what plans they have to restore youth services to Claremont. I am also seeking proper funding for the new birthing centre without recourse to crowd funding.

Dear me, wrote is at it again. For gods sake grow some and put your name to your rants. Yes I am no longer a member of Ukip. Think it's about time we had a change is salford.Wrote and his fellow Labour people have let us down again and again. Got the leaflet from the labour candidate for the by election in Claremont. Reading it you wouldn't think we had 3 Labour councillors in the ward for the last 5 years. He is going to do so much for the ward. He forgot to say the labour council expect the people of Salford to help fund the birthing center proposed for Ingleside. Or the fact that the labour council are taking the funding away from the youth provision in the ward.

I'd rather have ukip than the benefit fiddling liebour party! What have liebour done for the people of Salford? They get voted in year after year because people 'don't like change' & some like to simply vote for 'the winners' ! I know! I've asked them! Before you vote for liebour check out www.labour25.com and if you still feel they deserve your vote then god help us.

I would think that Rebecca Long-Bailey will be lot more use to the people of Salford that any UKIP member. Even the blessed Felse has jumped ship from UKIP. Talking of jumping ship; doesn't that apply to Ms. Ferrer?

Thanks Steve, that's made me sleep easy at night knowing our MP lives in Salford (haha) The last one did and what use was she to the people of Salford. Maybe the one from Stockport or the one from London might work a bit harder for us

The MPs we have don't know and don't seem to care about the people of Salford. So god help us if we end up with one from London or a bit nearer Stockport.

SALFORD STAR – 15 YEARS OF ATTITUDE AND LOVE XXX

The Salford Star closes tonight after 15 years of giving the community a voice, holding power to account and bigging up all the great things that have happened in the city.

Thousands of people in Salford have been involved in one way or another with the Star and we'd like to thank them all. Salford is a very special city and, hopefully, we've given it a very special community publication.

THREATS, LIES, FEAR AND LOATHING IN SALFORD...

Today, the Salford Star shuts down but we write this article as a warning to others who may follow on the pitfalls of founding a genuine publication that aims to give the community a voice and hold public bodies up to account.

They will try to discredit you, block information and shut you down. Here the Salford Star editor, Stephen Kingston, looks at how democracy perished badly under the Salford mayoral system.

A WHIFF OF FREEDOM AS RESTRICTIONS ARE EASED

Salford has 7 new coronavirus cases, down from the previous day's 14, while the seven day rate per 100,000 population now stands at 30.1, down from 30.9. There have been no new virus-related deaths announced by Salford Royal Hospital.

Today sees restrictions eased and the first whiff of freedom in over a year. It's also the final coronavirus bulletin from the Salford Star which is closing. Here we look back over 14 months of the pandemic and the absolute communication failings of Salford City Council and its City Mayor.

We are almost at the final closure of the Salford Star but we write this article as a warning to others who may follow on the pitfalls of founding a genuine publication that aims to give the community a voice and hold public bodies up to account.

SALFORD STAR CLOSURE – GUY GRIFFITHS ON THE HUMAN COST OF PATHFINDER DEMOLITIONS

Star date: 16th May 2021

THE HUMAN COST OF REGENERATION

The Griffiths brothers of Higher Broughton are kind of infamous as the only people to be forcefully evicted from their house as part of the Pathfinder 'housing market renewal' project during the first decade of the 21st Century.

Here, Guy Griffiths, now living in 'sunny' north Wales and one of the main inspirations for the Salford Star's creation, writes the second part his own personal view of the Government project that devastated communities throughout Central Salford.
