AS POLL STATES ONLY 18% TRUST NATIONAL PRESS, SALFORD STAR BACKS MEDIA FUND

Star date: 6th December 2016

ALTERNATIVE MEDIA CROWDFUNDING LAUNCHED

Today, a YouGov poll found that only 18% of people trust the national press to tell the truth, unsurprising after some truly disgusting Daily Mail headlines recently.

Now a bunch of alternative national and local media groups, including the Salford Star, have backed The Media Fund, an online, ongoing crowdfunding platform that collects monthly donations, and distributes them to independent and grassroots media.

Belief in journalism has halved over the last ten years, a new YouGov poll for Impress reveals, with just 18% of people trusting the national press to tell truth.

"With 80% of the UK press being in the hands of five billionaires, and our biggest broadcasting network under the increasing influence of the state, it is no surprise that traditional sources of media are increasingly out of touch with the population at large" state organisers of The Media Fund, which aims to address the issue.

"The need for independent media in the UK is greater than ever, but this need can't be satisfied when financial issues are hindering the development of alternative news sources" they add.

Indeed, with advertisers and public bodies reluctant to help fund the groups that will journalistically bite their hand, it's becoming almost impossible to financially sustain any sort of real investigative and community centred media.

The Media Fund is an online, ongoing crowdfunding platform that aims to collect monthly donations, and distribute them to alternative, independent and grassroots media. In its first month it has a £10,000 target, for which it has already raised £6,000...

Organisers state that The Media Fund site will allow you to:

1) Choose the sites you like and donate a monthly amount of your choice

2) Access content from your chosen sites all in one place

3) Find more independent media like it to explore.

4) Support and uphold the integrity of the industry's transformation, as online digital work challenges traditional mainstream media.

5) Shift the focus - financially and culturally - from papers that promote division and oppression, to whichever publications you think should replace them.

"While the biggest media companies in the UK continue business as usual, small independent media groups are revolutionising the media landscape" they explain "but to continue to grow, and to maintain rigorous and integral work, they need your help.

"We want to make funding new media easy, fun and effective" they add "Together we want to raise loads of cash for the best independent media organisations, and set the standard for the new democratic media industry. One that works for you, because of you..."

The project is spearheaded by Real Media, alongside national organisations including Centre for Investigative Journalism, SpinWatch and the Campaign for Press and Broadcasting Freedom, and local groups including the Salford Star, Manchester Meteor and Dorset Eye.

The Media Fund launches on 10th December at the Media Democracy Festival, University of London.

If you want real news and not some one sided political news then go to breitbart, the drudge report, infowars, wikileaks or jon gaunt at talk 2 me radio. com. The drudge report has 1.2 Billion followers per year. All the above are all trying to be closed down by the main stream media, the Clinton foundation, barrack Obama, Angela merkle for telling the truth and uncovering their corruption. Dutch MP tells the truth about Islam and Dutch politicised judges find him guilty of hate speech on the run up to the Dutch elections, so the judgement wasn't political there then. Muslims have said and done far worse thing across Europe and get a free pass on murder and hate speech, hate speech can only be hate speech if your white and Christian. Roll on the Dutch, French and German elections and the down fall of the globalist political agenda and an end to western soldiers fighting and dying in Muslim countries for British and European politicians bank accounts, like tony Blair , David Cameron and all the other spiv's in power.

YouTube now has some of the best independent news sites, plus video from local people reporting on what's really happening in their communities. This is a great one from Little Hulton https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vrcSFjR6jfA an example of Marston's bailiffs printing their own warranty. This one involves one of the councils fake liability orders. Will the star being starting a Channel ?

Finally the general public have come to their senses. I stopped reading the "National" and "Local Newspapers" a long time ago, as I found a lot of their news stories to be inaccurate and certainly on occasion, caused unnecessary alarm and duress to the more vulnerable members of society. I am also proud to say that it has been exactly one year since I last watched TV. I prefer to get my facts and news from "Online Publications" who report without bias, and take into account both sides of a debate when writing online news stories. I am proud to say that the "Salford Star" is one of the "Online Publications" I support and depend upon to get the facts. In this day and age, society needs more independent and honest "Online Publications" to provide the general public with the right information and news. Kindest Regards, Tahir Chakotai, (Independent Housing Advocate).

SALFORD STAR – 15 YEARS OF ATTITUDE AND LOVE XXX

The Salford Star closes tonight after 15 years of giving the community a voice, holding power to account and bigging up all the great things that have happened in the city.

Thousands of people in Salford have been involved in one way or another with the Star and we'd like to thank them all. Salford is a very special city and, hopefully, we've given it a very special community publication.

THREATS, LIES, FEAR AND LOATHING IN SALFORD...

Today, the Salford Star shuts down but we write this article as a warning to others who may follow on the pitfalls of founding a genuine publication that aims to give the community a voice and hold public bodies up to account.

They will try to discredit you, block information and shut you down. Here the Salford Star editor, Stephen Kingston, looks at how democracy perished badly under the Salford mayoral system.

A WHIFF OF FREEDOM AS RESTRICTIONS ARE EASED

Salford has 7 new coronavirus cases, down from the previous day's 14, while the seven day rate per 100,000 population now stands at 30.1, down from 30.9. There have been no new virus-related deaths announced by Salford Royal Hospital.

Today sees restrictions eased and the first whiff of freedom in over a year. It's also the final coronavirus bulletin from the Salford Star which is closing. Here we look back over 14 months of the pandemic and the absolute communication failings of Salford City Council and its City Mayor.

THEY WILL TRY TO DISCREDIT YOU...TO BLOCK YOU, TO SHUT YOU DOWN

We are almost at the final closure of the Salford Star but we write this article as a warning to others who may follow on the pitfalls of founding a genuine publication that aims to give the community a voice and hold public bodies up to account.

They will try to discredit you, block information and shut you down. In South America they just blow up the offices of journalists that don't play the game. Here they just financially assassinate you...

SALFORD STAR CLOSURE – GUY GRIFFITHS ON THE HUMAN COST OF PATHFINDER DEMOLITIONS

Star date: 16th May 2021

THE HUMAN COST OF REGENERATION

The Griffiths brothers of Higher Broughton are kind of infamous as the only people to be forcefully evicted from their house as part of the Pathfinder 'housing market renewal' project during the first decade of the 21st Century.

Here, Guy Griffiths, now living in 'sunny' north Wales and one of the main inspirations for the Salford Star's creation, writes the second part his own personal view of the Government project that devastated communities throughout Central Salford.
