While the great and the good are sat inside the University of Salford event next month chewing over The Future of Salford Housing, local people who might want to attend will find themselves metaphorically sat on the step outside as ticket prices start at a whopping £225 (+VAT), rising to £525 (+VAT) for the one day conference.
The day will include talks by the likes of Gillian Guy, Chief Executive of Citizens Advice, John Bibby, Policy Advisor of Shelter, and Baroness Warwick, Chair of the National Housing Association, on an array of issues affecting social housing which tenants might like to hear...
There's sessions on Universal Credit and Social Housing Tenants, Protecting Tenants in a Complex System, and one almost stuttering `Will social housing be replaced?'.
Another session asks `How did this generational inequality occur?'...which will hopefully be answered by keynote speaker Greg Clark, Tory Secretary of State for Communities and Local Government, confessing pure evil and falling on his sword.
Meanwhile Salford takes centre stage as Pendleton Together Chief Executive, Steve Close, will be responding to questions like `What have the recent changes meant for our tenants?' (don't mention the NIBEs!*), and giving everyone the recipe for `Making tenants happy in Pendleton'...which we're sure the skipping, whistling, delirious Pendleton tenants would love to know...if only they could afford to go.
