Salford's Peter Hook and The Light are to perform Joy Division and New Order's legendary Factory Records compilation albums, Substance, live at the Apollo on 16th September.
Released in 1987, New Order's Substance was originally conceived as a way for Factory Records boss, Tony Wilson, to play the New Order singles on the CD player of his new Jaguar car. Substance became the best selling New Order album ever upon its release, the double LP going on to sell two million copies in America alone. It includes seminal tracks like Ceremony, True Faith, Thieves Like Us and Bizarre Love Triangle.
Released in 1988, Joy Division's Substance features all the singles which did not appear on the albums such as Transmission, Love Will Tear Us Apart and Atmosphere, as well as b-sides, tracks from their EP An Ideal For Living and the Factory Records sampler.
The Apollo concert will see Hooky and The Light perform both albums `sequentially and in their entireties'...
The Substance tour comes just before the much awaited publication of Hooky's third book, Substance: Inside New Order, following on from his previous two ace books, The Hacienda and Unknown Pleasures.
The New Order book, published on October 6th, will be, the publisher states `a no-holds-barred, comprehensive account of the band's entire history, packed with outrageous anecdotes'...
