SAYF, a Big Lottery funded charity, runs Family Fun sessions all through the year but there's some special themed days coming up to finish off the summer holidays for babies and children up to nine years old...and the cost of each session is only £1.
Next week, SAYF is off to Salford's very own Rio Olympics with kids invited to make torches, bracelets, carnival masks and instruments against a samba soundtrack, with mini Olympics games too. There's also sand and water play, play dough, costumes for dress up, small world play, a construction area, a reading corner, a baby area and more. The Rio Olympics fun sessions take place Tuesday 16th and Thursday 18th August between 1pm and 3pm.
The following week, Tuesday 23rd and Thursday 25th August, there's a holiday theme, where youngsters can make aeroplanes and luggage tags, and visit a mini airport to `come fly with SAYF Airlines'. These sessions run 1pm to 3pm.
And to round off the summer, Tuesday 30th August and Thursday 1st September, will see The Great British Beach arrive in Salford, where families can enjoy traditional fun, eat fish and chips and join in a chorus or two of seaside songs. These sessions run 1pm to 3pm.
"The sessions are suitable for children of varying ages, roughly 0 to nine, as we have lots of different types of craft and play" says Kay, Learning Coordinator at SAYF "Any age is welcome though, often the teenagers and adults who attend enjoy the crafting more than the little ones!"
Meanwhile mums and dads who took their kids to the sessions last week really recommended SAYF...
"Me and my family love the sessions at SAYF" said mum, Ruth Bartlett "Both my two and a half year old and five year old benefit from the activities and crafts. It's a safe and friendly environment and great value for families during the holidays. Kay and Claire are enthusiastic and friendly and make the sessions really enjoyable."
A dad who attended added: "The activities at SAYF are always really good for the children; for them to learn and meet new people", while another mum said "My little boy and I really enjoy the sessions. They have an absolutely fantastic outdoor space which my little boy loves, especially the Pirate Ship. There is always something fun to do! It's also great to meet other parents in the area."
SAYF runs Family Fun sessions on Tuesdays and Thursdays all the year round from 1pm-3pm, at just £1 per session with a healthy snack and drink included. Over the past year themed days have included everything from space to silly science, ancient Egypt, the jungle, superheroes and Euro 2016.
