Despite the best efforts of Peel Holdings and their peat bog destroyers (see here and see here), there is still some of `Salford's rainforest' left on Chat Moss which are now nature reserves.
This month, The Wildlife Trusts' Chat Moss Project is running Wild Family events to get kids and their parents out on the Moss exploring the amazing peat bogs, and there's two afternoons coming up which look really exciting...
On Thursday 18th August, between 1pm and 3pm, there's Superhero Training, while on Thursday 25th August there's a special Gruffalo themed event, also between 1pm and 3pm... "Each event will include a range of engaging activities, and take young explorers around part of our peat bog reserve" says Elspeth Ingleby, Chat Moss Project Officer.

The activities will suit all ages and are free of charge, although it is possible to make an optional donation. You have to book in advance by phoning Lancashire Wildlife Trust on 01204 663754.
There is also limited parking availability, so cycling or walking to the Moss is encouraged, although a shuttle minibus will be run from Irlam for which places are limited so booking early is recommended.
