Salford Scrapstore opened in February on the site of the old Grumpy HQ off Langley Road South, turning `waste things into play things' (see previous Salford Star article – click here).
The idea was that anyone working with kids could become a member, turn up, fill a trolley with whatever re-claimed craft goods were needed and just give a donation to the charity in return. Meanwhile, its Artrageous shop sells high quality art and craft materials, with a 20% discount to members.
At the time of its opening, the Scrapstore promised free art and craft sessions for families, and the first of these is this Saturday, 7th May between 10:30am and 2pm.
The session is run on a drop-in basis, aimed at children aged 4-12 and their parents, who can create and socialise, with themed craft sessions and demonstrations, scrap modelling and messy crafts. It ranges from sensory play for the smaller children to full blown projects for the older children.

There's no need to book but it is on a first come first serve basis, there's a self serve cafe and, while a member of staff is present children must be accompanied by an adult at all times.
