Salford people who have an idea for a business but don't know where to start will soon be able to get help, courtesy of the Langworthy Cornerstone's new pre-self employment business school.
The school will be specifically tailored to anyone who would like to explore the idea of self-employment, but might be put off because they don't play golf, have an old school tie or mates in the Rotary Club.
The Langworthy Business School offers a more laid back approach, with help in skills, development of ideas and the support needed to get things going. It's a free service and those eligible will be guided by experienced business people, and can go on training courses to learn things like market research and how to do a business plan.
There will also be mentors on hand for support and the possibility of doing a bit of volunteering in companies to see how things work. To help get a business going after the courses, the Cornerstone is also offering cheap office space, at £25 a week, which includes telephone calls, superfast wifi, car parking and reception facilities.
The scheme is being run by Langworthy Cornerstone Association in partnership with local organisations such as Banana Enterprise Network (a registered charity), and is believed to be the only business school of its type delivering grass roots level `pre-self-employment' support in Salford.
"We are delighted to be launching the new business school in Langworthy" says John Phillips, Chief Officer for Langworthy Cornerstone Centre "We are teaming up with an exciting range of organisations and experts, to bring together a really useful package of support for local people. We believe this is a unique approach to helping people reach their potential. There will be no 'wrong doors' at Langworthy Business School''.
The Langworthy Business School will be launched on 10th December, 6pm-7pm, at the Cornerstone. To start with it will be a pilot scheme made possible with support from the National Lottery's Awards for All programme
