@David Cameron: The biggest danger to this country, by a long way, is ignorance such as yours as you spread lies started by fascists. You say not a single muslim country hosts Syrian refugees but Egypt, Lebanon, Iraq and Jordan all have muslim majorities and are housing well over a million refugees. In places such as Saudi, the statistics are clouded because the people they have taken in, or allowed to stay, are not officially classified as refugees. What is tragic about ignorance like yours is that, particularly in a place like Salford, many of your neighbours (perhaps even you) have Black, Irish or Jewish blood and only a few short years ago, the hate that you’re spouting now would have been directed at them, regardless of the fact that it turned out all right, didn’t it? Who knows, maybe there are a few economic migrants and maybe some would prefer to be in the UK rather than France, but I would encourage you to look beyond the lies in the right wing press and see the millions who are literally fleeing for their lives with not much more than the clothes on their backs.

@Jason Roberts, anyone or anything that dosn't fit in with the leftwing socialist ideology or dosn't want this once great country of ours to be swamped with a thirteenth century religion of Islam, a religion totally apposed to western values and cultures, yet we still have our great leaders who are trying to force multiculturalism on our country or as I call it ethnic cleansing of our culture and way of life, to appease Islam. The word racism is used like confetti, to stifle debate on immigration and to stop all opposition to immigration and to the ethnic cleansing of the indigenous British people of the island, hopefully the people of this country and Europe are waking up to what the so called leaders are doing to our western cultures. Ps, Forgive me for saying mr Roberts, you seem a little reticent in wanting to say what you want to say, but don't worry your not alone, 90% of the country have been coward into silence on the destruction of this once great country and it's time for people to stand up to the fascist bullies of the leftwing who shout racism to impose their ideology on this country. The tide is turning, people are starting to wake up to what is going on, not only in this country but in Europe.

Don't agree entirely by D Cameron's comments. however, we should be supporting genuine asylum seekers not the economic migrants squatting in Calais! It's crazy to raise money for them, you will just encourage more to come and more deaths. Many charities have already stopped supporting the people in Calais and diverted money to worthwhile causes. Not sure who Stand up to Racism are but they should do the same. In fact, I fail to understand the connection between Calais squatters and racism!

On another page were talking about homeless people born in this country who can't get homes, and were raising money for economic migrants, (not people fleeing for there lives, as they would have claimed asylum in the first safe country they came to) who have traveled through many safe countries to try and claim asylum in Britain because the benefits and free housing are better. When are these lefties going to realise that this country is full and it's time to look after our own people. It's about time that all the lefties who bleat on about the pradicament of these economic migrants take them in to there own homes. There is 49 Muslim countries in the would including Saudi Arabia, a rich country, and guess how many have taken in there fellow Muslim brothers, that's right, zero, none, it's left too Christian countries to look after Muslims that rich Muslim countries don't give a damn about, yet we keep hearing how peaceful and caring Islam is. This is just the islimafacation of the west and of Europe, time to get out of Europe

SALFORD STAR – 15 YEARS OF ATTITUDE AND LOVE XXX

The Salford Star closes tonight after 15 years of giving the community a voice, holding power to account and bigging up all the great things that have happened in the city.

Thousands of people in Salford have been involved in one way or another with the Star and we'd like to thank them all. Salford is a very special city and, hopefully, we've given it a very special community publication.

SALFORD STAR CLOSURE: HOW SALFORD COUNCIL TRIED TO BLOCK AND DISCREDIT THE STAR

Star date: 17th May 2021

THREATS, LIES, FEAR AND LOATHING IN SALFORD...

Today, the Salford Star shuts down but we write this article as a warning to others who may follow on the pitfalls of founding a genuine publication that aims to give the community a voice and hold public bodies up to account.

They will try to discredit you, block information and shut you down. Here the Salford Star editor, Stephen Kingston, looks at how democracy perished badly under the Salford mayoral system.

A WHIFF OF FREEDOM AS RESTRICTIONS ARE EASED

Salford has 7 new coronavirus cases, down from the previous day's 14, while the seven day rate per 100,000 population now stands at 30.1, down from 30.9. There have been no new virus-related deaths announced by Salford Royal Hospital.

Today sees restrictions eased and the first whiff of freedom in over a year. It's also the final coronavirus bulletin from the Salford Star which is closing. Here we look back over 14 months of the pandemic and the absolute communication failings of Salford City Council and its City Mayor.

THEY WILL TRY TO DISCREDIT YOU...TO BLOCK YOU, TO SHUT YOU DOWN

We are almost at the final closure of the Salford Star but we write this article as a warning to others who may follow on the pitfalls of founding a genuine publication that aims to give the community a voice and hold public bodies up to account.

They will try to discredit you, block information and shut you down. In South America they just blow up the offices of journalists that don't play the game. Here they just financially assassinate you...

SALFORD STAR CLOSURE – GUY GRIFFITHS ON THE HUMAN COST OF PATHFINDER DEMOLITIONS

Star date: 16th May 2021

THE HUMAN COST OF REGENERATION

The Griffiths brothers of Higher Broughton are kind of infamous as the only people to be forcefully evicted from their house as part of the Pathfinder 'housing market renewal' project during the first decade of the 21st Century.

Here, Guy Griffiths, now living in 'sunny' north Wales and one of the main inspirations for the Salford Star's creation, writes the second part his own personal view of the Government project that devastated communities throughout Central Salford.
