In over twenty venues, ranging from The Blind Pig to Wangies and The Wellington, the Salford Music Festival kicks off for four days of free live sounds on 24th September.
Amongst the Salford bands appearing are a first outing since 2000 for Trigger Happy, Festival organiser Ed Blaney's band. The Triggers, whose only ever release, The Lots Gone EP, was play listed on Radio 1, will be performing an un-plugged set at a not-very-secret, secret gig at the Salford Arms on Saturday 26th September at 9pm.
Other Salford acts include Acoustic John, DJ Yan, Benefit State, Duke and the Darlings, Factory Acts, Keepthechangebob, Randolph Swain and the Red Lights, The Junta, The Jane and Mike Band, and the ace Salford Musical Youth.
Meanwhile, from Japan comes Cozy, a `unique mix of beat boxing, acoustic guitar, loop pedal and contemporary dance'; from Newcastle comes Iceni, `purveyors of disco-infused power pop'; from London comes the experimental `melodic and melancholic' trio Plastic Barricades; and from Middlesborough comes the `real alternative folk' of James Kruman.
More locally, Greater Manchester gives us sounds ranging from `piano ballads to metal meltdowns' and a great promo photo from ILL; music and dance from Lornah Stewart; new `old' new wave from the Mutha Luvin Chimps, alt rock from We Signal Fire, and home grown acoustics from Zoe Stirling.
There's over 150 acts altogether, crammed into four days of free live sounds all over the city.
