An ironic poem by Salford author and radio presenter, Simon Williams, about handing money to millionaires rather than the poor has been re-created into an electronic based song by local band The Brooklyn Foundation, complete with one hell of a catchy chorus... "I'm just going to give it all to the millionaires who don't give a damn about you..." and a nifty observation on media manipulation... "So take a step back and see how the media has convinced me to see what they see..."
"I wrote a poem for the Salford Star that tried to capture the mood of the magazine" says Simon "I sent it to a friend, Alan Burke, who was in a pop group in the late 80s and early 90s called The Awesome 3, who still have a club classic played nowadays He put the music to it and in the space of two days the single, Homeless, was born.
"His band, The Brooklyn Foundation, were so pleased with the hits that it received, they decided to release it as a single" he adds "The strange thing is that it all came about by a poem..."
Homeless has a bit of haunting, doom-impending beat going on with some emotional swirling synths for accompaniment and that catchy chorus, "I'm just going to give it all to the millionaires who don't give a damn about you..."
