Promoter, Red Rec, is presenting a head swirling line-up at The Crescent next Saturday, led by psychedelic garage rock of The Things, described back in the day by John Peel as 'a semi-legendary Manchester band'...
The Things were around in the late 70s and early 80s, and supported New Order and The Buzzcocks, amongst, er, other things. Indeed, John Maher of The Buzzcocks released their single Pieces of You on his Imperial Records label after they agreed that he could join them as drummer. 35 years later, and The Things have re-formed and are about to release a new EP.
The Things are joined by Belter, a North London quintet, whose punky spirited pop is spliced with political lyrics, and Salford's Johann Kloos, who, according to the Herts And Essex Observer "straps the listener to the psychiatrist's couch while his musical personality breaks down into bewildering, diverse elements - schizophrenia on a grand scale." How can anyone miss this?
