The Evidently website states all you need to know about this once a month night of stand up spoken word... "Our aim is to bring poetry back to the masses and prove that it can be more than you were taught in school. It is funny, it is thought provoking, and above all else, it is entertaining... Forget what you learned in school. This is poetry at its best."
With two top poets on the night, and ten open mic spots, there's always a huge variety of word spitting going down at the Eagle Inn on Collier Street, which is all filmed and put up on YouTube for posterity. Hosted by Salfordian poet, Kieran King, Evidently has been called "a rip roaring, verse slinging, cheer rousing, heart filling, feet stamping riot of rhythm and rhymes" by performer, Dominic Berry, and is on the shortlist for the Saboteur Awards for Best Regular Spoken Word Night, the results of which will be announced tonight.
The Evidently show on Monday 8th June, see guests, Scouse poet and playwright, Gerry Potter, and Colin Davies, of the Lancashire Dead Good Poets' Society. There's also those open mic spots in which anyone can get up for two minutes and have a go at public poetry.
Evidently happens on the second Monday of every month. Well worth checking out...
