ANTI DAILY MAIL WEEK IN SALFORD AND THE UK
|
|
Star date: 15th March 2015 WEEK OF ACTION AGAINST CORPORATE MEDIA Starting from Monday and all this week, there's loads of actions directed against the Daily Mail, the Murdoch media empire and other corporate media for their biased news coverage. 20,000 copies of a spoof Daily Mail, attacking the poisonous paper and containing some much improved alternative stories, are to be distributed around London and Manchester. The Anti-Daily Mail week is the brainchild of the Real Media campaign, backed by the Salford Star. Full details here...

This week 16th-21st March has been designated Anti-Daily Mail Week, to raise awareness that the Mail (or the Daily Malice as it's known), and other corporate media like The Sun and The Express, slant the news against the interests of most people, and in favour of the billionaires who run most of the media in this country. Indeed, on Monday 16th, 20,000 spoof copies of the `Daily Wail' will be distributed around Manchester and London, and the front page story screams that `80% of all print media in the UK is owned by just five billionaires: Rupert Murdoch, Viscount Rothermere, Richard Desmond and the Barclays twins...These corporations don't sell papers to us. They sell papers to advertisers on behalf of billionaires. Their job is not to hold the powerful to account, but to protect them from scrutiny'. Inside the paper are stories people don't tend to read in the mass media articles on mass rent rises and displacement of social housing tenants, the privatisation of the NHS, how the sick and disabled are being bullied off benefits by huge private corporations, and everything you need to know about TTIP the secret international trade agreement that's going to de-regulate everything. There's also a moving true tale of how someone's working class dad, who worked in Lancashire's textile industry, had his mind completely enslaved and racially poisoned by the Daily Mail. Aside from the spoof newspaper Real Media, the group behind the week of action, will also be plastering Manchester and London with mock headline posters that highlight themes ignored by much of UK's media, including... `Billionaires control our democracy' and `Funding both sides of the war on terror: everyone loses except UK arms companies'... Every day this week, campaigners will highlight crucial issues ignored by the corporate-dominated press: Monday 16th: corporate influence undermining democracy Tuesday 17th: climate change Wednesday 18th: austerity increasing inequality to record levels Thursday 19th: privatisation of healthcare and other public services Friday 20th: the arms industry's interests driving the war on terror Saturday 21st: human rights "These urgent issues should be at the centre of public debate, particularly in the lead up to the election, but they are sidelined, trivialised and ignored by biased media looking to deceive the public at large and protect the interests of a privileged few" says Kam Sandhu, spokeswoman for Real Media "This media wishes to see us sleepwalking into ecological and economic disaster whilst churning out vitriolic rhetoric attacking immigrants, benefit claimants and other groups. It protects the powerful and takes aim at the powerless." "Information and well-executed journalism is fundamental to democracy" she adds "The doctored version of the truth presented by much of the mass media shows a contempt for these values. There is another way, and the public are already looking to other sources of information and alternative media for more truthful, inclusive and representative news. Real Media is going to be a positive step towards the kind of media we all deserve." The Real Media campaign isn't just about slagging off the corporate news. In early April the group will be launching a website that aggregates alternative independent news platforms and the Salford Star will be contributing to this. Meanwhile, to follow up the Real Media Anti-Daily Mail Week, the group Occupy Rupert Murdoch will be hosting a week of action by the new HQ of Rupert Murdoch's media empire at London Bridge. | @salford star, there's that funny word again when people on the left car't stomach the truth, racism, the default setting of the left when things aren't quite going their way in a debate. As for the star blocking me because you say that I am racist, then why don't you print my comments and show me for the racist you claim I am or is the real reason the star blocks me is what I write is too close to the truth and this is not in the interest of the leftwing ideology. It's funny star, how things are that bad for the masses in this country that 300,000 people each year are risking death to get into this country, you'd think the masses who you say are down trodden in Briton would at the next election would be falling over themselves to vote for a leftwing party that would save them from their misery, there are that many according to the left, they'd walk the next election, but the people of this country know the truth that under socialism things only get worse not better. And as for me coming on here, the star loves me, you need someone on here with a different opinion, this is why the star is struggling to get back in to print, your just too leftwing, why don't the star contact the mail or the sun and ask for some advice on how to run a proper newspaper, after all the daily mail with hundreds of thousands if not millions of readers a week must be doing something right, they could shine some light on where you the star are failing. Ps @the star you need to get out into the wider community in salford instead of attending leftwing marches where you only hear narrow leftwing opinions, what I say on here, is what 90% of the country is either saying or thinking, so star widen the circle of people you speak to, speaking to people with the same opinion and ideology as yourself is why the star is struggling to get back in to print. And this from a ex leftwing socialist who's seen the dangers of socialism.@ Bernard. See your still drinking and eating from the toilet, found that leftwing party yet, that's going to save the country Bernard, thought not. How's the mortgage pension bank account doing, just another Russell brand, champaign socialist. Bernard are you sure about the guardian figures, you know you have a little trouble reading short articles, we all know if it wasn't for government and local councils advertising in it and local chippy serving its chips in it, this rag would fold tomorrow, manchester evening news not doing so well and advertiser going under and these are part of guardian. leftwing papers once again struggling, wonder what the common denominator is, mmmmm wouldn't be talking and writing about socialist shit would it. |

| "Dave" not often you are right, but you are wrong again. The Sun is the most read paper in the country. The Guardian/Observer is just a head of The Mail/Sunday Mail on internet readership. Carry on though it's always a laugh reading your meanderings. |

| See David Cameron's comment below - `envious' of the Daily Malice? Us? Oh do grow up. You obviously love the Salford Star because you can't keep away - polluting our comments pages with your barely concealed racism - which is why you keep getting blocked. Go start a publication of your own and see how popular you are. |

| What's wrong with the star, supports free speech but only if it is yours and the lefts free speech. The mail is the biggest paper in the country, has the biggest web site following, was it not the fascist and racist daily mail that brought to justice the killers of Stephen Lawrence and just incase you don't know, he was black, wasn't the mail the paper that fought against the Labour Party and hacked off led by mr blow job Hugh grant and z list actor against regulating the free press so the rich and famous can get away with criminal and immoral acts against the people of this country and wasn't the mail along with other right wing papers who brought to light the industrial rape of white school girls by Asian Muslim men, when papers like the daily mirror and the guardian tried to ignore what leftwing labour councils up and down the country were allowing to happen to white school girls in the name of multiculturalism. Just think star, if it wasn't for papers like the mail then the above stories would't see the light of day. The star has to stop looking at the daily mail from a point of envy, this is such a bad trait of the left, envy of success. |

| I don't read the Daily Mail - I don't read any mainstream newspapers, but I did just pop over to the site and searched for TTIP - read 3 articles that didn't seem biased at all, even included quotes from Unison. They mentioned danger to NHS in all 3, even though one was regarding Jamie Oliver objecting to TTIP due to concerns over food additives and farming methods used in the US. Hopefully the Daily Wail will be equally as informative instead of just ranting.
I bet the celebrity 'news' will be rubbish...
This campaign, BTW, seems to be quite biased against the Daily Mail rather than all mainstream media.
