Think `Pirates' and you're thinking skull and crossbones, rebels and stuff. Have no fear. The Pirate Party is quite happy to play on these images... "We always like to think we're pirates because we think different" says its Salford and Eccles General Election candidate Sam Clark "We're thinking out of the box, we're not thinking where anyone else is going; we're pushing at the knife edge of politics..." While people might not have heard of the Pirates, on the continent they're pretty well established, with an MEP in Germany and a core policy against internet surveillance hitting a popular chord. The Pirate Party is the first political party that bestrides real world and internet issues. Sam is 21 and has never even voted before. At the end of last year, the Pirate Party made Salford its national headquarters, with an office at Islington Mill, and plans to capture the Salford and Eccles seat in the forthcoming General Election. This weekend the Pirates had their national `unconference' at the Mill and, in keeping with their `thinking out of the box', invited anyone – even non-members – to turn up and help structure their election manifesto... "It's sort of crowd generation of policy" explains Sam "We had big pieces of paper with topics on and then everyone just wrote down ideas, problems and solutions to things. We're going to take that and start a new policy process with a Reddit page and a page on our website to get feedback. That's how we generate our policies." Top topics yesterday were education and getting stability into the school system, social mobility and internet access... "In my day job I run a business that lays fibres into the ground and cables rural and deprived areas, so I'm quite passionate about net access" says Sam "The internet is an enabler, so people who are out of work and haven't got the net are disadvantaged because most jobs are listed online. Simply if you can't get online you can't get a job. People need good and cheap broadband access. "We're also anti-fracking and for keeping the Welfare State going" he adds "One policy that I did want to start during this process is getting homeless people off the streets because research has shown that it is actually cheaper to house people than police them on the streets. The state should take people in and help them get back into jobs and reintegrated into society again." In the meantime, the Pirate Party is working within local community campaigns around the Islington Estate, while nationally its message taps into the new youth consciousness... "It's clear that the Pirate Party is needed more than ever" the national party states "That our brand of politics which is not afraid to be controversial is an antidote to the grey identikit types that dominate UK mainstream parties. From mass surveillance, restoring confidence in our broken democracy, making politics something everyone can take part in, challenging international agreements that threaten our freedoms, we're dealing with issues that the others aren't..." | "Dave" if you wont debate issues then there is no point in posting anything. It is obvious that you do not believe in free health care and education, you do not believe that the people who create the wealth should have a greater share in the profit created, you do want to live in a fairer society where there are no such things as food banks and homelessness. You should stop making suppositions about things you know nothing about. |

| Bernard the pension question is a valid question, as pointed out in the past on your pension, bank account, mortgage, all are very much apart of the capitalist system. Bernard your a vary ardent socialist, always trying to prove what a great socialist you are, but when pressed on the question of your pension you go all defensive, with good reason, as I have pointed out in the past your pension is invested in London by edge fund managers who then invest it in sweatshops exploiting third world countries and children who make cheap consumables for you to buy. How many times Bernard have you complained about the price of items ie food, petrol, gas, clothes, you Bernard are part of the problem you want cheap goods made in some sweat shop but you also want a great pension that live off the backs of the people in these third world countries. In your last post you complain about gas, again your pension is invested in the gas companies who exploit people to pay for your pension. You see Bernard if it was't for the capitalist system you so hate, you wouldn't be able to live in the comfort you now live in and before you bleat on that you don't live in comfort, you live a lot better than someone who's working in some third world sweatshop who's providing you with your pension and the clothes on your back. Like I've said before your a typical champaign socialist, only sees what he want to see and remember Bernard I'm an ex socialist who woke up to the smoke and mirrors of socialism and labour and this is what destroys your argument Bernard. |

| "Dave" asking questions about somebody's personal financial arrangements does not equate with destroying arguments. I give you facts backed up with sources and you reply by rambling on about whether I have a pension or not. That you have no argument becomes clear when you resort to this. The original point I made was that another anonymous poster claimed that the aims of the Pirate Party are "idiotic protests". I choose to disagree with this blinkered view. If you think that housing the homeless, rescuing the welfare state, social mobility etc are "idiotic protests" That's ok, it's your view, it's wrong, but it's a point of view. I also pointed out, backed up with sources that the current government have massively increased the national debt contrary to the claims of another anonymous poster. I have consistently argued that Thatcher's privatisaions have been an unmitigated disaster for the consumer, with gas, electricity, water and transport costs shooting through the roof. But your answer is to question whether I have a private pension or not. |

| Bernard. You mean like labour when they was in power, favouring labour councils over Tory councils or even libdem councils. Had lots of arguments with you Bernard about socialism and destroyed all your arguments, just look back in the archives, see you still don't like answering questions, how is the private pension, found out yet where it's being invested, some South American sweat shop using child labour, but your not going to give up your pension, like I say, typical champaign socialist. |

| Here we go again. "Dave", what arguments are you talking about? "Mr for sale" arguing that education, housing the homeless, rescuing the welfare state etc are protests? "Mr for sale", could you please explain why when distributing the national pot the current government favour Tory controlled councils to Labour councils? Why Danny Alexander, he's Chief Secretary to the Treasury, has lavished cash on projects in his own constituency? The system is fubar and any new party with a fresh take on things should be welcomed not subject to puerile taunts from somebody with nothing worth adding to the debate. |

| Sal for sale. You won't get a answer from Bernard your arguments are right this is why Bernard won't answer them, he won't answer questions on education in salford or this mythological socialist party he goes on about, I've had the same problem with him, he's stuck in the socialist 1970s. Ask him about his private pension, bank account, the mortgage on his house all part of the capitalist system he so hates, but don't hold your breath for a answer he's just your typical champaign socialist, don't do as I do, do as I say. Be careful salford for sale, if you keep destroying his ideology he'll start calling you a racist. That's when you really know your destroying his argument, that's his fall back and default setting. |

Salford lad. Is that the sixth form school bell I can here in the back ground, playtime's over, back to class now, before the socialist teacher disciplines you with some politically correct words. That's a good boy. Open mind. That's why I'm not in to socialism, how can socialists have a open mind when 99% vote labour because their great grandparent did, this isn't having a open mind this is decades of leftwing socialist brainwashing, you've had a load of brainwashed socialist demonstrating out side of the town hall yesterday shouting about con/dem cuts when the reality is it's the salford Labour Party making cuts to vital services whilst spending millions on vanity projects like salford reds, peel holdings, orchestras, so open mind, yes that is what I have got, whilst socialists like you carn't see past the next benefit cheque, but then, it keeps you enslaved to labour. |

| "Mr for sale" no you are not "spot on" if you were you would have the wherewithal to mount a decent argument. As for Natalie Bennett she is hardly the only politician to perform badly in an interview. Nigel Farage was so bad last year that his spin doctor actually threw in the towel and stopped an interview with James O'Brien. Paxmann asked then Tory leader Michael Howard the same question 12 times without getting an answer. John Nott one time defence minister threw down his microphone and walked out on Robin Day. These are facts. Fact (noun) A thing that is known or proven to be true. |

| Bernard there is only one fact, me and the wedge are spot on, Bernard you keep going on about this socialist second way of putting the country right, what is the name of this party. you keep going on about socialism but keep failing to mention what party it is, so let us know what the secret is and don't say the greens, just go to lbc radio and listen to Gordon Bennett sorry Natalie Bennett, if this party gets anywhere near power, then we'll all be going back to using candles. Funny Bernard you don't touch on any of the subjects I mention, take education in salford, bottom of the northwest league table on education out of 39 councils and i think the star will back me up on that. But then your just a typical socialist, only see what you want to see. See Osborn getting lots of praise from around the world for the way he's handling the economy, seems he knows a little bit about maths, more than you can say about the Labour Party or the greens. |

| "Mr for sale" I think you will find that UK national debt in 2010 (that's when the Tories took power) was £0.75 trillion, that figure after almost five years is now £1.36 trillion (ukpublicspending.co.uk). You can not simply think up figures and expect people to believe everything you say. "Mr Wedge", you too seem to confuse Gordon Brown with a socialist, he is clearly just another Tory, merely a lighter shade of blue. You say that government borrowing was out of control under Labour the fact is that they have increased government debt by £500 billion. You say it is hurting. Is it really hurting the better off who have seen their share of national wealth grow as ordinary working people suffer. The current government has done something no government since the war has managed. They have actually seen a reduction in living standards in this country. What the country needs are viable alternatives to the right wing cartel which has taken this country back to the Victorian era. |

It is hurting, but it isn't all their fault.
And wasn't it Gordon Brown who sold off the 'family silver' - oh, hold on, it was the family gold, and at rock bottom price.

| Blue boy. just been on lbc radio web site and listened to it absolutely hilarious, it was so embarrassing to listen to I just cringed listening to it. Anyone thinking of voting for the greens just listen to it, I don't no if she was just brain dead or smoking some of her own private batch. Just go to lbc radio web site, it's on the main page and listen to the full interview, nick Ferrari is one on the most laid back presenters on radio, he even tried to help her and she still hung herself, car't stop laughing. To Bernard it was labour who put the country £1.5 trillion in debt, it was Gordon brown who deregulated the banks from the Bank of England, remember northern rock, this is the problem with labour and the left, know how to spend money but don't now how to make it, remember Bernard Britain is the only country in Europe that is growing and as mr Cameron has said in the past how is socialist France doing. Pirate party, just another union paid for protest party designed to split the vote for labour. |

You reply merely highlights you political ignorance. "Mr Boy", I'm assuming the "Blue" is an indication of you political allegiance. I would point out that the great economics genius at 11 Downing St has now borrowed more money than every Labour government combined. The Tories, though their friends in the media would not like us to know this, have as little economic competence as they have compassion. The problem now is that they have sold off the family silver the only thing they have to fall back on is to keep stealing from the worse off in society. |

| No Bernard, that's why none of the things you mention can be left in the hands of idiot lefties. Just look at salford council as pointed out, we are second from bottom out of 39 councils in the northwest league table, the whole country lies 25 and falling in English, maths, science. This has been the philosophy and the indoctrination of the left to keep the masses down, destroy the education system keep people tied to the mantra " the state will provide for you, mentality" and keep the people voting labour and socialism, it's this ideology, socialism that has enslaved the people of not only this country but the world and it is a good education and capitalism that frees people, social mobility can only happen with a good education, socialism destroys education and free thinking as the above about salford education proves. On the rescue of the welfare state, is't this just a typical statement of a socialist " the rescue of the welfare state" do you believe Bernard that people who can work should be allowed to live a life on benefits, the welfare state is there as a safety net, not a life style choice, what most people have in common on welfare is a bad education, just look at labour/socialist run towns and cities all have high unemployment rates due to having bad education systems in place, this is the cause of the welfare state collapsing, tell me Bernard, there's 1.5/1.9 million people without a job in Briton, but we have 250,000 immigrants coming in to the country every year to work, this is on top of the four million immigrants labour let in when they was in power. Bernard what do you suggest we do about the people who have never had a job or intend never to get one, do you keep these on benefits for life whilst the rest of us pay for their life style choice. |
