The Christmas experience is now traditionally enhanced with the Salford Choral Society doing its festive concerts of carols and the Messiah. This year there's two dates, at St Philip's Church in Salford on the 18th and the Messiah at the Royal Northern College of Music on the 20th December.
The Christmas Concert at the awesome St Philip's Church, off Chapel Street, on the 18th will feature a range of carols with audience participation, accompanied by Elin Rees on the organ, conducted by Jo Judge and presented by David Walton who will also be re-telling his Christmas stories. Sherry, soft drinks and mince pies will be served in the interval and children are very welcome.
On the 20th December, Salford Choral Society will be performing Handel's Messiah at the Royal Northern College of Music, as it has every year since the Society was founded in 1947. The Choir will be accompanied by the Philharmonic Ensemble and conducted by Matthew Hamilton. Featured will be soprano Eleanor Garside, mezzo soprano Hanna-Liisa Kirchin, tenor Adam Temple-Smith and bass Philip Wilcox.
