The Deli Lama Café, on the corner of Bexley Square, has been open for over two years but never got chance to have a party, so on August Bank Holiday Monday it's having a double celebration, now that it's finally got an alcohol licence.
"We haven't had time to celebrate two years so we're kind of having a party for that too" says the Lama's Linda Robson "They say that if you can run a business during a recession you can run one any time. We're still getting there and welcome as much support as we can get."
The Salford Café has been really open to the community since it firsr appeared, hosting exhibitions for up and coming artists, running music and theatre nights, art and craft markets and even the Salford Star lottery. Meanwhile, Barton Moss protectors on their way to and from court were welcomed with free food.
To celebrate the birthday, the Deli is having a Reggae Lama event, where DJ Michael Holland, from Islington Mill, will be pumping out the vinyl sounds of classic and old school reggae. People can even bring their own fave vinyl tracks for Michael to spin.
To give flavor to the sounds the Lama will be serving Caribbean food – everything from jerk chicken to vegan dishes – and beer, ranging from Red Stripe to local vegan and vegetarian brews.
