HAZEL BLEARS RESIGNS
|
AND NOW…AT GREAT EXPENSE…IT'S BYE BYE HAZEL…
Star Date: 3rd June 2009 11am
News has just filtered through that Salford MP Hazel Blears has resigned from the Cabinet. The former Minister for Communities has fallen on what was left of her very blunt sword, after the open secret that she was about to be sacked anyway when Gordon Brown reshuffled his Cabinet….
|
|
In the wake of the expenses scandal and Hazel's lavish spending and non payment of tax, it was inconceivable that Gordon Brown would keep her in his Cabinet, particularly after calling her actions `totally unacceptable'. Now Blears' resignation is being perceived by political commentators as getting one over on the Prime Minister before he could get rid. And it's being seen as a concerted effort by the anti-Brown lobby to unseat the Leader of the Labour Party.
Labour MP, Paul Flynn, has called Hazel's resignation an act of "menacing disloyalty"
The Salford Star has no opinion and does not wish to get involved in the internal politics of the Labour Party. We feel that Hazel Blears should have resigned weeks ago when the expenses scandal first broke. The fact that she has held on for so long and is now using her resignation as a kind of weapon to try and win back influence in some near future Labour overhaul says everything about the woman you need to know.
Hazel might be playing political games, but for people in Salford who have contacted us over the last few weeks, this isn't a game. There is only a feeling of disgust that Salford's MP should be embroiled in lavish spending and tax avoidance while representing one of the poorest constituencies in Europe.
There are now organised attempts being made to de-seat the standing Salford MP. Further details to follow…
"I've never sought high office for the sake of it, or for what I can gain, but for what I can achieve for the people I represent and serve." Hazel Blears 3.6.09

| I had the misfortune to meet her whilst I was manning a stall at the 'local democracy day' 5 years or so ago. I started to explain how our group provided volunteer befrienders for depressed older people and how some carers of people with dementia had got together to make a film. She seemed totally uninterested in any of this and when I mentioned the film she said "oh another film, seems like everyone in Salford is making a film these days". She then breezed off leaving me feeling very angry and disgusted with her arrogant attitude. So glad the rest of the country found out what a toad she really is; Salford deserves so much better. |

| No doubt the local news will find some fool to say "She,s done a lot for the people of Salford".
Look at central Salford now. Blackfriars, lower Broughton,Charlestown, lower Kersal,Ordsal and Higher Broughton. Empty, unsold flats, boarded up houses bought for demolition by the council in the name of the "pathfinder" schemes and large tracts of newly created WASTELANDS.
Salford has gone from being an industial city to a city that keeps begging regeneration money from the government for one stupid scheme after another. |

| OK, So the Blaearster has been found out with her financial fiddling like every other MP, So we can all moan and groan, the question is what are the people of Salford prepared to do about it ? Not difficult people, petition for her removal, do not vote for her again, , Remember, your vote is not for the candidate you want to represent you but also it’s against the candidate you don’t want , next time she turns up for a photo shoot, make sure your voice is heard load and clear. For god’s sake lets get rid of this useless woman and that stupid grin. |

| News just breaking on the Telegraph website suggests the Chipmunk also forgot to pay CGT on a SECOND property she flipped...and that the big cheque she just ripped out like it was small change was actually to cover both of these 'oversights'. The woman is a huckster who cares more about her own ego and pocket lining than she does about her constituents.
As for resigning to spend more time at the Grass Roots level? yeah, right. resign your seat NOW you chancer, take a job selling the Big Issue, (all you're good for, except you'd probably fiddle your sales targets...) and then see how you like Grass Roots. |
