HAZEL BLEARS EXPOSED

Star date: 25 May 2009

MARY BURNS ON THE LEAST BIGGEST SURPRISE IN SALFORD!!!

Amidst all the current scandal surrounding Hazel Blears, the latest revelation will come as absolutely no surprise to anyone in Salford…

We've had second homes and non payment of capital gains tax…We've had Kit Kats and posh hotels and tvs and husband's train fares…We've had enough of Hazel's spending of public money to make everyone in Salford feel quite sick. But today more of Hazel's spending is revealed that will surprise no-one…

Yes, today, the Daily Telegraph reports that Hazel is amongst eight Ministers who bought `digital cameras or camcorders using office expenses'

Now, it's the biggest joke in Salford that Hazel only turns up to anything if  there's a press camera there…that the only time `my people' ever see her is when she's gawping out of the papers on a photo…

So why the camera or camcorder? Obvious innit? If the press photographers don't turn up she can just take a picture of herself or get one of her lackies to do it for her…Maybe she's addicted to having her photo taken…Maybe she's got a whole secret room in one of her homes covered in photos of herself with `my people'…Maybe Hazel has got an exposure problem…doesn't really bear thinking about…

Meanwhile, the big Telegraph story today is about how nine Cabinet Ministers, including Hazel, claimed public money for personal tax advice…"in accordance with paragraph 2.3.3.2 of the Green Book on page 29" etc etc says her spokesperson…

Yeah, yeah, whatever, it's all `within the rules'

I heard a rumour that when Hazel was a solicitor working in the Courts in Salford she prosecuted those accused of benefit fraud. Ironic don't you think?

Yes sadly the attitude of all those MPs involved seems to be 'well it was there for the taking'. Sorry not good enough!Where is the sense of ethics and moral responsibilty?

FURNESS QUAY DEVELOPER PROVIDES NO AFFORDABLE HOUSING ON HUGE APARTMENT SCHEME

Salford's planning scandal is to go up another gear this week when an application by developer De Trafford for 421 apartments in blocks up to 27 storeys high on the site of Furness Quay is considered by councillors. Thanks to Salford City Council policies, the developer will be providing no affordable properties, while, through 'viability' assessments it is set to avoid over £1million in planning fees.

Meanwhile, the English Cities Fund (ECf) is continuing its secrecy in relation to new apartments and an office development around Chapel Street and New Bailey.
