Neither the wind nor occasional rain could dampen the spirits of revellers from all over Salford and beyond who came to celebrate historic Kersal Moor...home of one of the biggest Chartist demonstrations in the land which helped win the vote for ordinary people...home to Salford's famous 19th Century racecourse...and home to a zillion happenings since stoneage man first set foot there.
There were loads of people dressed as characters from the Moors history - urchins, ladies..even Mr Clowes himself parading around, while Besses Brass Band provided the background sounds. Kids learned circus skills and had their faces painted, while the adults persued stalls including Free Trade, Friends of Kersal Moor, Vegetarian Society and Salford Star.
A great day was had by all and everyone agreed that the Celebration should be a regular Bank Holiday event...roll on next year!
