MAY DAY WORKERS DAY FUN
 

May Day March, Rally, Workshops and Huge Music Fest

On Monday May 4th there's a big May Day day of everything - from a march to a free Love Music Hate Racism outdoor fest at Castlefield Arena…


The day kicks off at noon at All Saints, Oxford Road, M/cr with a march to Castlefield Arena on Liverpool Rd, where there's a rally with speakers from the Visteon strikers, Unite Against Fascism and the Communication Workers Union.

From 3.30-4.30pm there's a workshop on The Crisis In Local Media hosted by the National Union of Journalists and from 5pm-6pm there's a How to Organise An Occupation workshop.  Both at the Arena.

Between 3.30pm and 4.30pm , in Room 1 at the Castlefield Hotel, next to the Arena, Paul Mason, BBC Newsnight Economics Editor and author of ‘Meltdown: The End of the Age of Greed’ is speaking on: The Credit Crunch Explained. It's free and organised by Manchester Trades Union Council.

Meanwhile, the Love Music Hate Racism fest runs from 2.45pm - 7pm, also at the Arena.  Here's the line up…

SALFORD COUNCIL AJ BELL STADIUM WORTH £6.5MILLION DESPITE OVER £24MILLION PUBLIC LOANS

PEEL HOLDINGS WILL SELL STADIUM, SALFORD COUNCIL WON'T SAYS SALE SHARKS OWNER

Speaking to the BBC North West Tonight, Sale Sharks owner Simon Orange said that the AJ Bell Stadium, which has had over £24million in public money loans from Salford Council, has now been independently valued at just £6.5million.

He added that the Sharks had offered to buy the stadium at "more than 50% higher" than the valuation, but, while joint owners Peel Holdings were keen to sell, Salford Council were "not interested"
