The houses all look real, but note from our photos that they only go back a few feet…And did you know that all the characters' bedrooms are all piled on top of each other in a studio set, well away from the houses…Meanwhile, what really goes on in Chatsworth police station? It's actually the offices of the Shameless crew and the canteen, just one entrance in a huge building that also houses all the studios. 

Look closely on the tables of the characters' rooms – surely Frank Gallagher and Karen Maguire don't read The Guardian and The Independent? 

Here we present all the backstage pics and, as a kind of Easter quiz, see if you can guess whose rooms they are – there's no prizes as we're skint but send us the answers anyway and we'll pick a winner!

WHEN IS THIS SALFORD COUNCIL PLANNING SCANDAL GOING TO END?

The planning panel of councillors for Salford City Council will be probably rubber stamping yet another huge development in Ordsall this week – two blocks of 'luxury' apartments, up to nine storeys high, off Ordsall Lane and Dyer Street.

From 196 properties being proposed by Selectric Investments Ltd, just one will be affordable, thanks to official Salford Council policy.
