SHAUN RYDER, PETER HOOK STAR AT FAC 251

FAC 251 OPENING NIGHTS ANNOUNCED

Shaun Ryder, Rowetta, Mani and The Whip are set to star in the launch of FAC 251 The Factory, Hooky's new club in Manc-land, which opens this weekend over three floors and a zillion styles of music.

Friday 5th and Saturday 6th Feb 2010 

Friday 5th February – PETER HOOK'S THE LIGHT
For the opening night of FAC 251 Hooky's put together a supergroup featuring Mani, Rowetta, Howard Marks and other special guests performing rare Joy Division and New Order tracks, and a hits retrospective from Hookys previous bands Monaco, Revenge, NewOrder and Joy Division. There will also be the debut of his new material with FREEBASS.

Limited tickets are available at £22.50 for the gig which runs 7pm – 11.00pm. Tickets for the Club Afterparty which starts at 11pm are £8.50


Saturday 6th February – NEW MANCUNIA starring The WHIP, LONELADY and MAY68.  Plus STONELOVE vs HAÇIENDA Presents... with DJ sets from HOOKY & SHAUN RYDER
The Whip
open Saturday nights at FAC 251 with a one off live set, specially breaking off from recording their second album to perform. Support id by upcoming local bands Lonelady and May68.

Tickets for the gig, which starts at 7:30pm are £9 in advance and include free entry into the Stonelove vs Hacienda Presents club night afterparty at 11pm which sees DJ sets from Salford superstars Shaun Ryder and Peter Hook.  Club night tickets are £8 in advance.

EXHIBITION OF SALFORD WOOD CARVINGS OPENS NEW UNEMPLOYED ARTS CLUB

An exhibition of ninety wood carvings, featuring everything from birds to animals, to wood spirits and politicians, has opened at the Salford Unemployed and Community Resource Centre.

The exhibition will kickstart a new Salford Unemployed Arts Club based at the Centre, where anyone who is unemployed or disabled can meet and try wood carving or any other creative activity.

CAN 'CLEAN' COMEDY WORK IN SALFORD? ABSOLUTELY!

This week saw a trial 'clean comedy' night at The Vine Cafe in Irlams O' Th' Height, with five comics wowing the sold out venue, and not a swear word or lewd reference in earshot...

"It had to be right kind of acts" explained organiser Sally Griffiths, as the mix of new performers and professionals pulled off the clean comedy night with aplomb (ooh, er, missus...).
