Salford is celebrating May Day this year with a `Stop The ConDem Government – We Demand A Future' rally at Bexley Square on The Crescent between 11am and noon with guest speakers Matt Wrack, General Secretary of the Fire Brigade Union and current Salford Mayor candidate Ian Stewart.
The theme is a protest against Government cuts and slashes to services as public spending is axed in Greater Manchester, one of the most impoverished areas in the country.
From there will be a march to the Moon Under Water pub on Deansgate to meet up with people with disabilities, and from there to a rally a Cathedral Gardens with speakers from all sorts of national and international campaigns.
At 2:30pm there's also a social event at Friends Meeting House on Mount Street with entertainment, food and activities for children.
The Day is backed by Salford Trades Union Council, Manchester TUC, Bury TUC and Oldham Trades Union Council.
