Legendary local movie pusher, Kino Film, which used to present the wild Kino Film Festival, has been based upstairs at the The Black Lion pub for six months building up its new base. Now, Salford based actress Maxine Peake is to attend The Black Lion's first major North West premiere for the feature film, Edge, and take part in a Question and Answer session after the screening.
Maxine stars in Edge as a guilt-ridden woman who arrives at the Cliff Edge Hotel desperate to recover her past. There she meets a washed-up pop star (Paul Hilton) who is looking for inspiration, plus a host of other characters, each with a mystery of their own. Or, as the blurb states…
"... a group of disparate lost souls gravitate to a rundown desolate seaside town in search of new horizons. Over the course of two days, now frozen into the bleak landscape, they begin to find a purpose that unites them all..."
Have they all reached the edge? Or are they about to go over the edge?
Edge is written and directed by Carol Morley, well known for her documentaries which include the award winning The Alcohol Years centred on her time during Madchester daze. Edge is Carol's first fiction feature and it will be supported by screenings of two of her previous short films, Stalin My Neighbour and Everyday Something.
After the Edge premiere, Carol Morley will take part in a Question and Answer session via Skype, while Maxine Peake will be Q&A'd live. Host is John Robb.
